The SOM Story
After marrying Suzan in Paris in 1907, Murat Menteşe brought his new bride home with him and in 1909 settled in Milas as the owner and proprietor of Menteşe Farm. Milas, Turkey, is renowned for a climate perfectly suited to the lush olive groves that populate the surrounding hills and valleys.
The Turkish word "som" translates best into English as "pure gold" and conveniently mirrors the initials of Sitare and Osman Menteşe who continue to manage the family orchards and oversee the harvest and olive pressing each winter.
